Heyyyyy there! I’m Chandler. I’m a therapist. I’m a big fan of sarcasm, the F word, being silly, and my animals.
Specialties
I have extensive training in treating trauma, and am a Certified Trauma Practitioner. Last year, I completed a certification in Psychedelic Assisted Therapy and am now a legit Psychedelic Assisted Therapy Provider. I have a few different certifications and trainings in trauma treatments, but EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy) and Psychedelic work are my favs so far.
Along with EMDR, I like to sprinkle in some Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. (WTF ARE THOSE? - I got you! Check out my Blog for more info on the types of therapies AKA alphabet soups I enjoy using.)
I specialize in treating trauma, PTSD, depression, anxiety, life transitions and adjustments, women who wear many hats, medical and mental health professionals, and college students/millenials struggling with the tasks of “adulting”.
Education and Work
I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Child Development and Family Relations, Bachelor of Social Work, and Master of Social Work with a graduate certificate in Substance Abuse Counseling at East Carolina University, in Greenville, North Carolina. After graduating, I obtained specialized training in clinical social work, trauma treatment, and substance abuse treatment.
Before opening my private practice, I built my experience and expertise in a variety of settings. I worked with children, adolescents, adults, families and communities as an intensive in-home therapist, community outpatient therapist and school-based therapist in Greenville, Jacksonville, and Morehead City, NC. I then worked as an Assistant Clinical Director for an inpatient psychiatric hospital in the New Hanover County area serving children, adolescents, and adults with severe and persistent mental health concerns.
I’m also a trained and certified Psychedelic Assisted Therapy Provider and I love helping folks utilize these amazing medicines to further their healing journey and feel more connected to themselves, other humans, nature, and the universe.
My therapeutic style can best be described as warm and validating, while also “real”, down to earth and spiced up with a hint of sarcastic humor. I believe therapy should be an experience that both soothes and challenges you, and I want you to leave each session feeling heard, understood, and with tips and tricks you can use that day to bring relief to what you’re struggling with, and maybe even a relevant meme or two.
other random stuff about me
As an Eastern NC native, I truly love for all things North Carolina, and decided to make the mountains my (maybe?) forever home after several amazing years living on the coast. As long as I have a body of water and the beautiful NC outdoors around me, I’m a happy camper… or glamper sometimes.
When I’m not being the coolest therapist ever, I enjoy spending as much time as I can with friends, family and my fur babies. I can usually be found kayaking in the Intercoastal or hitting the beach when she’s at the coast, or hiking and waterfall hunting when she’s in the mountains. No matter where I am, she loves doing yoga, reading a good book in a cozy chair, or baking something to satisfy my sweet tooth. I’m an avid music lover, and enjoy scoping out local concerts and playing my violin. I am obsessed with traveling, and I have a long bucket list of places I want to visit. I wanna hear your travel stories, too!
